If installation process shows 2 partitions- instead of 'enter' selet 'd' for delete- do that for all partitions- then format disk-then install..

I've Had to do this before, and i recommend if they ask what operating system you bought it with, get the newest one possible, (i got windows 7, for free on my netbook after dabbling in ubuntu netbook edition)

If yes boot the computer up with the CD, have it delete the current partitions and then format NTSF, when it finishes it will install Windows. If you don't have the CD you will need to get one. If you run Ubuntu and use the partition program gparted, see if there is an NTSF partition on the far right hand side. If it exist and says NTSF, then the Factory Default Recovery partition still exist and you might be able to recover it back to the way it was bought. Sorry to hear that you accidentally did the whole hard drive.
