Is the heater core leaking? If it's a clog...you don't need to replace the heater core you need to replace the lines (heater hose) going to the core...or hope a flush takes care of it. If not...tell your husband to build a bird house.

Off hand the heater core is mounted differently in just about every car. You need to trace the heater hose (coolant lines) around the engine compartment and eventually you'll find it; it looks like a baby radiator. If this is something you NEED to have done. Go grab a chilton from the public library...the cavy is a common car it should be there (I've seen them in my library)...otherwise order it from another library. Yeah it's being cheap by not buying one, but it's better than spending 20+ bucks on something which your husband may not be capable of doing. How do you replace a heater core in a 2004 chevy cavalier?ive beena s.t mc. for 30 years i would not take on that job
