I need to know how to take the shift handle off and replace the button and spring inside.How do you replace the automatic shifter knob button on a 1999 ford mustang?The original knob releases with a push pin or allen screw usually located on the radio/underside of the knob. You then to push the button in and wiggle it and the shift knob should come off of the shift lever.
Other than that just make sure you do no rip out wires for the OD(overdrive) from the lever and replace it the same way you put it on.
