I need to replace the old basement windows in my house. They are metal frame and were poured into concrete. Though I won't have any problem removing the old window frames, what is the best way install/anchor vinyl replacement windows? Do put in a PT wood frame with a Ramset? Or just use some sort of red head anchoring system directly into the concrete and then caulk around the edges.How to replace basement window that was poured into concrete?When you get the metal frame out, which is easier said than done, use a hammer drill to pre drill the side holes in your foundation. Then screw through the sides of your new windows, using a %26quot;Tapcon%26quot; or another brand of concrete screw. You should hit wood, when you screw through the top. If you get 1 screw in each side and a couple in the top, thats all you need. You can fill in the gaps with mortar or a masonry caulk. If you put wood around the opening first, you get a much smaller window, thats why I do it this way.
