How difficult is it to replace a run capacitor in a central air unit?

I know you guys are going to laugh but my ex wifes central air capacitor needs to be replaced and I bought one for $16 and was thinking about replacing it myself. How difficult is it to replace? How difficult is it to replace a run capacitor in a central air unit?not hard at all, first you need to make sure it's discharged by grounding the terminals (capacitors hold a charge) ALSO make sure the power is off before doing this, then remove the mounting screw (s) and disconnect the leads. Install the new capacitor and re-connect the terminals easy as 1-2-3How difficult is it to replace a run capacitor in a central air unit?It is easy to replace. Make sure you turn off the power first and discharge the capacitors just to be safe. Make sure you have the right voltage rating and the right capacitance rating.

These ratings need to be within 5% of the old one.How difficult is it to replace a run capacitor in a central air unit? It's not hard at all. Make sure you kill the breaker. There are usually several wires on the capacitor. Don't worry what they are for. Just mark them so you know where they go on the new one. Do not get them mixed up. Take a digital picture or a cell phone picture before you remove the old one if you have to, but just do not get them mixed up.

My question is who told her that she had a bad capacitor??How difficult is it to replace a run capacitor in a central air unit?Very easy. Kill the power with the disconnect. Short across the terminals of the old cap with a screwdriver to make sure it is discharged. Then swap the old for the new. The wires just plug on.
