How do i replace a directional switch on a Chevy Blazer?

I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer, tilt wheel 4x4

No cruise control

4.3 liter

Airbag

The directional switch needs replaced, do i need a steering wheel puller?

Is it possible to replace this at home without having the airbag go off?

If anyone has any info on this please answer.

Thanks. How do i replace a directional switch on a Chevy Blazer?Do not attempt to do this repair yourself. The air bag must be removed from the steering column in order to do this repair. A very simple repair for a body shop, but a costly and potentially dangerous repair for the amateur. If you do not know what you are doing and cause the airbag to go off, you can kiss an easy $1500 goodbye. How do i replace a directional switch on a Chevy Blazer?Kenny is absolutely right, you haven't lived until u have deployed that airbag. Not only is it expensive to get them repacked but it's quite dangerous if your on the wrong end of the deploy. I own a repair facility in Pasadena, MD and even though I've done quite a few of them, I still don't feel exactly comfortable. Hope this helps! Jerry
