How to replace a hole in a plastic bumper?

There is a round hole with a diameter of about two inches in the rear plastic bumper cover on my Mazda. It is located right on the edge where the bumper bends. Some of it is bent inwards and some sticks out over the surface. I've read instructions for repair...but looking for more opinions. There is no way I can spend $500 to replace it. Please share your knowledge. Thank you.How to replace a hole in a plastic bumper? How to replace a hole in a plastic bumper?

Get a hammer and pop a new hole where the old one was and the hole will be replaced! (remember the Roadrunner moving the coyote's hole in the road?)

Okay just kidding. Fiberglass isn't your best choice.Your bumper cover is made of polyurethane, or ABS. Fiberglass wont stick well to that substrate. BONDO makes a two part epoxy system that stays flexible. Holes can be repaired fairly easily. I can't remember the name of the product, but it comes in a small box with green print. I have seen it sold at AutoZone, but usually get it from the paint supply house.

Once you repair the hole you will still have to paint it to match, and that can be pricey unless you are willing to just get a %26quot;fair%26quot; color match, like with a spray can.

I like the bumper sticker idea, but you can also check at this site and see if you can find a used part within your price range; http://car-part.com/How to replace a hole in a plastic bumper?wow had a friend with same problem she bought a cool bumper sticker. cost $3.00 vs $500.How to replace a hole in a plastic bumper?you can by a fiber glass repair kit, it will fix the hole and allow you to repaint the damaged area. The down side to this fiber glass is very rigid and could brake again if something hits it hard enough. These plastic bumpers are supposed to have some give to them. If you add fiber glass to the bumper it could cause it not to have as much give. How to replace a hole in a plastic bumper? You need a fiber glass repair kit. There is a fiber glass mess that you place over hole and you mix up the fiber glass resin to place of the mess and smooth it out. Once dry you have to sand it smooth and prime and then sand the primer and spray the color. Then you have to wet sand and buff.

A reasonable auto body repair shop could do it for you for less than 500 that's materials and labor.
